the real work begins
when the reading ends.
- All students can finish a book. The great ones understand what it really means.
- Only the best can defend their opinion — and back it up.
- That kind of thinking takes time to develop. That's exactly what we do.

Proof Word
One vocabulary word chosen for its importance to the plot — not a random word list. Students have to find it in the text, which keeps them reading carefully.
Comprehension Questions
Two questions per chapter that push students beyond summary — asking them to think about why things happen, what characters reveal, and how each chapter fits the bigger story.
Agree or Disagree
7 statements drawn from real issues in the book. Students pick a position on a 1–6 scale and must justify it with logic and examples from the book or real life.
These books are art — and every author made deliberate choices about language, pacing, and detail to make readers feel specific things. Our questions teach students to notice those choices and articulate why they work. That takes time. That's why we read one book a month.
